Did you know that eight tonnes of plastic make their way into our oceans every year? According to CSIRO, it’s predicted that by 2025 we will be putting enough plastic in the ocean, to cover 5% of the earth’s entire surface, in cling film each year1.

The result is the new Luxaflex® Equascreen Collection: a range of fabrics for our blinds that is both ocean-friendly, and offers a beautiful, ocean-inspired aesthetic.
This new eco-friendly fabric range took three years of collaboration and research, and is made from 50% ocean-bound plastic, and a 50% polyester blend. It is now available as an option when choosing your Luxaflex® Roller Blinds and Luxaflex® Panel Glide Blinds.

How so?
Bionic® collects ocean-bound plastic from various locations and beaches. Once the plastic is collected, it is transported to a facility where it is converted into small plastic pellets. These pellets are turned into the base of the yarn and combined with polyester yarn filaments to create the base of the Equascreen range.
Halogen-free and PVC-free, Equascreen is one of the world’s most technically advanced internal sunscreens. This means it provides essential protection for your interiors –which assists to reduce fading over time due to sun exposure.
All Luxaflex® fabrics are also backed by a five year warranty*.
The full Equascreen range, including both opacities, meets the certification requirements set by Oeko-Tex® for the exclusion of harmful substances which are potentially harmful to human health. The translucent range is also Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze. Cradle to Cradle Certified is a global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made.
The new eco-friendly Equascreen collection can also help you create a sense of tranquillity and calm in your home. It has a very on-trend linen base, with seven sophisticated ocean-inspired hues and four room darkening tones with colour coordinated backing.
